I am changing from building a RV8 to a Patrol SP. I want to put it on amphibs, so I can operate on land or water.

Super cool! Welcome to the team! I also have the dream of putting mine on floats as well.

      dhc2jeep1,

Welcome to the group. The Patrol seems like it would be a great plane for floats. I saw an RV7 on floats and was very impressed but it seemed like a duck out of water or vise versa?? I'm now flying an RV8 that I built and love it. However, I'm now building a Bearhawk. They're two very different mission airplanes and two very different construction type airplanes. When I finish the Bearhawk it'll be a tough decision an whether to sell the RV. Guess I'll just have to keep them both if my wife will let me

I understand the different missions: the RV8 was to satisfy my aerobatic desires, but my true passion is high wing float planes. I like the idea of keeping both the RV8 and the Bearhawk. My wife just the other day said to me that we need to review our retirement planning to encompass any additional airplanes I plan to have. Sounds like a green light for me to have both the Patrol and RV8!! I guess no need to sell my tailkit and serial number.
