  • Wing Rib Question

I'm finishing up my router templates for wing ribs and want to check something before cutting metal. I scaled my lightening hole diameters from the plans and notice I will have about 1.25 inches minimum between lightening hole edges. The flanges are 3/8 for each hole, which will leave 1/2 inch for the stiffening angle (the same as the width of the stiffening angle). This seems very tight without room for any tolerance build up. I'm curious if this is typical, or if I'm missing something. Have other builders had a tight fit between the rib stiffening angles and lightening hole flanges here and how did you handle it?

    Thanks,
    John
