  • For Sale New Run of Boonie Hats - Thread colors

    truspec3312F.png
We're making up a run of these Tru-Spec adjustable boonie hats. They have a little draw string that allows the head size to be adjusted, and are made of a rip-stop nylon. The first batch of hats is going to be black (shall we say, "tactical"?), and rather than have them embroidered with the usual red and white airplane, I've thought about having them done with less contrasting thread colors, like this:

The price will be $20 plus a couple for shipping, and we could do them as the regular 4-place Bearhawk, LSA, or Patrol. Does anyone want one? Let me know here or via email if so please.

Yes!! I would love a hat. Doesn't matter to me if it specifies the model. Let me know when you're ready for orders.

Is the sizing a little bigger than the old ones? I bought one, but it won't fit my (admittedly larger-than-average) head...

The only spec I can find is an unofficial 8 1/8 at the widest setting. As always, I'm happy to send you one to try that you can send back if it doesn't fit.I'll even cover the return postage.

I'm interested. As far as model I think it would be better left off so it works for all since we all have Bearhawks. I too am one of those large melon guys.

Sounds like it would work. I'll take one. And while I don't care all that much about having the "model-specific" name on the cap, I do like the picture. And I can squint a bit and say "Yeah, that's a 4-place" or squint again and say "Yeah, that's a Patrol/LSA." I like the monochrome – er, Tactical – look.

The first batch of hats has arrived! Here is a link to them in the store: https://bearhawkstore.com/product/mi...e-bearhawk-hat

I have been wearing one around and here are my impressions. First, this batch of hats is Navy, not black, due to a minor misunderstanding in the ordering process. It's a dark navy, but not black as originally promised. I'm planning a future order with Black, Tan, and Olive, if folks are interested. On future orders, I'll plan to run them with the 4-place Bearhawk art unless there are any special requests. There is also a darker brown Coyote color available, and some camo styles. Overall, I really like it. The fabric is water repellent, and in a steady rain the droplets bead up nicely instead of soaking through as they would on our fully cotton hats. The build quality is superb and it feels nice.

Now for the cons- it's not going to work for you big melon folks. I'd say it's at best the same size as the cotton full-brim hat we offer in the store here: https://bearhawkstore.com/product/aussie It's brim is not quite as big around as the Aussie hat, which might be an asset if you are using it with a scope.

One option that works well for folks with larger than normal heads: buy a fitted/sized hat and send it to me, and I'll get the logo on it and send it back. This usually runs about $10 plus your cost to ship it to me. Russ Erb does this periodically and it works well. Try and find one without the webbing loops around the circumference, unless you are ok with a smaller logo.
