  • Bearhawk Barbecue at #OSH21

    Hi everyone,

It's getting to be that time of the year again. Now that #OSH21 is a go, I'm working on feeling the temperature of the masses for the annual Bearhawk BBQ. Since this may be a hit or miss year for attendance, I wanted to get see what your plans are. Who would be interested in attending a BH BBQ this year? Answer in the poll so I can get the most accurate results, please! That's what I'll be gauging the interest with. While I welcome comments, I'll be counting poll results.

    ~Chris

As a new Bearhawker, I am not familiar with your OSH customs. What day would this barbeque be? I'm planning to be around from Sunday-Tuesday or Wednesday

Welcome! It’s traditionally Tuesday night, 6:00p in Camp Scholler at my campsite.

I might add that Chris caters Fried Chicken and lots of good salads and what not. Mark will bring watermelon from his ranch. There is a kitty to cover the cost. I don t recall ever bringing a dish to pass or anything....maybe I should be doing that. It seem like about 30-50 Bearhawk builders show up. It is inspiring to me to sit around and talk.

        Bring a lawn chair.

It works out best not to bring dishes, in my experience. But bring a chair and Bearhawk updates for sure!

Yep, the caterers do a fine job. More than enough food to go around!

I haven't been since the early 80's. I have a 5th wheel but I am guessing OSH revervations are booked out way ahead of time.

Just come with your 5th wheel without reservations. Generally sites are "First Come First Serve". The prevailing idea is that if you get to camp before all the "greedy" people arrive you get a good spot. If not, there is Lots of room for the rest of us good folk. Camp never fills up. Bring a bike...(an old ugly one that no one wants to steal is safe to leave unlocked) ....its a long walk (or trame ride) to the gate (avoid the wait for a frame with a bike).

On second thought, you might be able to make a reservation for a pricey spot with hookups....I don't know. I just go, show up on Saturday or Sunday and set up camp.

My coffee pot will be percolating on the coleman stove maybe around 7AM. Stop by for a chat if you (any you and you) want. PM me

If camping I would highly recommend the “ Express Arrival” procedure which is available online until June 15th. Your wristbands and camping pass are mailed out the beginning on July and you completely skip the lengthy camper check in process of the past.

Man, I really wanted to be there but our "second dose" program up here in the Great White North is running way behind schedule and I'm not slated to get mine until 30 July. I don't want to leave the country then get sent into quarantine on my way back in.

          Next year....

It's starting to get real. Ordered Express Tickets yesterday (thanks Airbus!).

Seems like there's some folks around these parts who are up for some fried chicken and what-not. Looks like we'll have ourselves a BBQ! Location coming soon along with a separate post requesting RSVPs.

            See you all soon!

I found this link on the EAA site. Interactive map with all of the 2021 AirVenture exhibitors. The Bearhawk booth is located in the Homebuilt Aircraft Display area, booth 608 & 609.
