  • Lower Door Fabrication - Curve to flat transition mid door.

I don't know if this has been discussed. Our build has the typical BH seaplane doors. We curved the lower door frame to follow the cowl at the hinges. The rear of the door is flat to follow the fuselage. There is a diagonal stiffener in the door that I think should be arched to help the door transition better between curved to flat. That could be done by scribing a pattern and then curve the diagonal to match the template. We did not do that and the flat diagonal creates a slight depression. We installed a window in the forward triangle so it is less obvious. I just think that is the diagonal was arched to be a transition between the front door curve and the rear flat that it would give a cleaner panel. Hindsight that may help someone who follows.
