  • Kit Wing Tip Prep

I bought the Kit Wing tips from the preferred vendor at the time in about +- 2006. I notitce last night that the wingtips have a seem running horizontally. This seem is not finished very smooth and the question is: Do you sand down the seem ( I do not want to weaken it) or do you fill it ?

    Hi David.
If the seam is protruding, sand it down until its smooth. If the seam is a a gap, fill it with a light-weight filler like super-fill or make up your own mixture of 3M Glass bubbles and epoxy resin.

The wingtips and the nosebowl require a lot of pinhole filling...unless you don't mind pinholes. Fill, sand, fill, sand, fill, sand, repeat...

They come out looking great if you take your time.

      Regards,

      Ted
