  • Bearhawk Panel/Fuel Caps

I made the trip up to Fairview yesterday to pick up my panel, and it is a thing of beauty! And before you comment that I missed out on the new Garmin panels, I knew they were coming out, some of the specifics, and I decided to go ahead with the G3X setup anyway. With what I have, adding the new panels should be pretty easy if I ever want to.

I will make a quick video if anyone is interested. I went with the Hard IFR panel, dual G3X, and autopilot. It is a really complete and awesome setup.

The shelf is complete with everything mounted. It just needs installation. Among the things that are included: ELT, pitot tube, AOA, Lemo headset plugs with floor mounts, engine monitor with all sensors, and all antennas. The wing wiring is ready to go in, the only thing that needs to be done is to terminate the wires for everything in the wings. There is cable included for USB power out in the left wing too, with a dedicated switch on an overhead panel. Everything in the wing has a quick disconnect, so no cutting of wires if you have to remove the wings.

I also ordered the new fuel caps. They are standard on new kits, and will require drilling larger holes in the skin and tanks. Bearhawk has made some 3D printed jigs to help locate the holes properly. I didn't take any pictures, but the vent is now permanently in the wing, and sticks up about 3/4", with a much larger opening than the ones on the fuel cap.

This was my 3rd visit to Bearhawk, and it is a busy place nowadays. I think there is going to be an explosion of flying Bearhawks, especially the 5, in the next year or two.

Please post a quick video. I would love to see your panel and the new gas caps. I'm just finishing my panel layout and all of the tons of decisions are daunting.

I hadn't heard about the new fuel caps with separate venting. Did I miss that on the forum somewhere? Please give some more details since I was planning on a separate vent line as well.

    Thanks!

I'll make a video of the panel and what's included. I failed to take a picture of the new fuel caps, but I'm sure if you give Bearhawk a call they can send you one. Maybe a new kit owner can post one too?
