Just ordered the tail brace wires for the 4 place Bearhawk from Steen Aero. Wow, the little things are expensive! $833 for the combined order price for the full set with all terminals. That is the reduced price... without shipping. But these have got to be right or things go bad really quickly....

Count me in the sticker-shock crowd when it comes to the wires! I "get" that they must not fail, but it's not like they are new marvels of engineering. For the Bearhawk LSA, my dad figured out we could use cub wires on bottom from univair part# U41031-002 without the ends, for about $30, and Citabria wires on top from aircraftspruce, with the ends, 48-9/16" part# 05-08675 for about $70. We bought two ends for the cub wires and made two ends as per Barrow's plans. We did have to cut off a quarter inch from the Citabria wires and shorten the rear of the fuselage mount for the bottom wires by like a quarter inch for the cub wires. The cub wires are right-hand-right-hand, but the citabria wires are left-right, so it works out great for adjusting. I think the total price was something like $130 for the wires and ends, not including shipping. I gotta hand it to the old man for some smart thinking and shopping on this one.
