  • LSA Wing Load Test

Has any load testing been done on the LSA wing? I found the static load testing that was done in 2002 on the 4 place Bearhawk, but can't find anything on the Patrol or LSA.

I enjoyed talking with Bob today and he indicated the Patrol and LSA wings have not undergone static load testing. All three aircraft are designed to meet FAA utility category requirements:

    Limit:
    +4.4g
    -1.8
    Ultimate: (1.5x limit)
    +6.6g
    -2.7g

In 2002 the 4 place Bearhawk wing was tested to +5.7g with no permanent deflection (1.3g over FAA limit load). The wing went to 6.4g ultimate which is just bellow the 6.6g requirement. After the testing some small changes were incorporated into the wing that put it well over the ultimate load requirement.

The Patrol and LSA wings use the same design approach/construction method as the tested and strengthened 4 place wing.
