  • Crosswind STOL wing tips, gear leg options.

Need opinions. I ripped the right gear off and bent the right wing on my pre Bearhawk trainer, a PA20 on the 23rd.... Since I have to rebuild that wing I'd like to add a little more wing area out board of the aileron...both wings. I don't want to install droop tips. Thinking Sullivan tips or Croswind's wing tips. On the landing gear the easiest is Univairs wide gear as they'll bolt up. Second option is a Trimmer Aviation stc using 3" extended PA 18 gear, and Maule struts. (Just like the Bearhawk struts). The Trimmer STC requires replacing the bottom tube between the right and left front gear mount. Replacing the vertical tube forward side of the door and on the opposite side where there isn't a door. Then there's a Trimmer right side sea plane door stc and a Maule fuel valve stc. which has right, left, both and off. All the Alaska Airframes Inc parts sourced for the Trimmer's stc's are near equal to the cost of Univair's landing gear. Trimmers stc cost makes that option more expensive and a bunch more work.
