When I constructed my sportsman I just adjusted the turnbuckles on the rudder cables till the aircraft flew in trim at cruise. I installed the same springs on my bearhawk with the intention of doing the same thing .

During my flight testing I had to hold a lot of pressure on the left rudder. I replaced the left side rudder pedal return spring with a heavier spring and it made it a lot better in flight, but now I need right rudder when taxiing. And then I flew Mark's 4 place with the fixed rudder tab and decided that was the way to go. Equal pressure on the ground and with a bit of trial and error, you can get it adjusted just right.

I've been looking at the pics here and I'm wondering why everyone mounts the tab on the left side of the rudder. It will need the trailing edge bent to the right, so I was going to mount it on the right side, but before I do that, I wanted to see if there was a reason not to do that.

Rollie, I can answer why mine is on the left; the nutplate tabs, that I attached the tab to, were welded on the left side of the rudder by the original builder.
