  • Dynon Avionics SV-D1000

    Hello,

Looking for some advise on the Dynon SV-D1000. I'm mainly curious as to if anybody has used this unit, and their opinion on it. From the reviews I've read, it looks to be quite nice. I'm used to flying behind the G1000's in the 172's; would be nice to carry over this type of panel into my future plane. I don't have nor want to spend the type of money to outfit my Bearhawk (starting finally to work on it) and I'm investigating my options. Looks like for around $10-12,000.00, one could outfit their instrument panel with two 10" units and have the ability to upgrade for years to come. I have no experience with Dynon, so any and all opinions would be good to hear. Like I said, I'm doing home work (Christmas list) for now, as I have a while before I need to purchase.

Choose the correct documentation for either your Expermimental or Type-Certificated aircraft.

Dynon has a new touch screen now. Just happen to see it yesterday. Some info out there on it. Looks to have some multi-screen overlay capability. Plan on installing one Skyview in my Patrol, but I'll wait to the very end to buy it, around 1 - 2 years; engine first.

Waiting until the end to buy your avionics and electronic gadgets is a great idea. At the speed of development we are seeing, anything you buy today will be obsolete in a year. As to Dynon, I can highly recommend anytging they produce. I had the D100 in my Bearhawk and it was nearly bullet-proof. Never a glicth, user friendly and easy to program and use. Loved it.

You may find it handy to get the installation manual for the Skyview. I called them and they mailed me one. It's lengthly, and will give you an idea of all the "stuff" you might have to install. I committed to one of the Dynon products when I installed the heated pitot in the wing, along with the autopilot servos. Lastly, Dynon has a forum where you can read over installation issues or problems other builders have had. A Dynon rep told me they have not had an "inflight" failure and most problems are installation related FYI. sf.
