Material Lists

Just a quick question about material lists. When I bought my plans the guy whom I got them from included a few lists from various builders and I'm not sure who's the best. So the question is who has the best list on the net for the 4 place aircraft.

Nobody. I tried some of them and ended up ordering twice the material when it came to somethings and not enough when it came to others.

I suggest you make your own list if your that worried about it. Making up your own list also gets your familiar with the plans. This wing list on Eric's site is pretty good. http://mybearhawk.com/wingneeds.pdf
Just remember if you plan your material so short you may end up having to order more when you screw up (there are 2 types of builders, guys that say they don't screw up and ones that admit it)

I make my own list then double check my list against the other lists. I learned my lesson after ordering the wing steel "kit" from ACS. At one time I had made a list of what sizes there wasn't enough of, what there was way to much of, and what sizes are included but needed for the wing. The "kit" from Wicks had similar discrepancies. Eric's wing material list is pretty good but there isn't much left over for the inevitable mistakes...like my full length rib fiasco. A good rule of thumb is to figure up what you need and add 20% for loss and mistakes.

If you take the time to figure out how much material you will need, you will have a much better understanding of the project. Unless you are some kind of aircraft building god, you will be making multiple orders for materiel. Hope this helps out.
