  • 4B Landing Gear Shock Strut Length?

Hello All, I’m getting closer to starting my landing gear build and was wondering if someone who is quick building a newer BH 4B with rod ends on both ends of the shock struts could take a measurement for me, looking for a total length of the shock struts, less the rod ends (no rod ends screwed in).

would be nice to know this number for comparison to my numbers prior to moving forward.

Greatly appreciate if some could help out, thanks!

Don't remember the length, but easy to work it out. Pictures of my LG strut with the rod ends on each end.

Dan R. Thanks for the photos, very helpful! I was wondering about the bottom thread insert with the rosette welds, this is helpful!

The bottom of the threaded insert is beveled for a weld around the end of the tube and in addition to the rosette welds.

BTW-- The shock strut tube in the picture is 1.25" X .058". Lighter weigh than the original streamline strut and 3.8 time stronger in column strength. (Needed in going into a ground loop ).
Bob Barrows went to a 1.125"dia x .065" that is far better than the streamline strut also. Either one is great.
