  • Spokane area builders or owners?

I managed to get talked into a job in Spokane for a bit and I'm wondering if anyone here is in that area?
I'd like to be able to commute up from Utah in the RV-7 when weather permits over the summer for a 1-2 week on/ 1-2 week remote kind of schedule.
If you're there - do you like it? How's the flying and do you have any insights to getting a little plane tucked indoors for less than the FBO nightly rate?

    Thanks

I am not in Spokane but am based out of Pullman (KPUW) 65mi or so to the southeast, let me know if you get time to stop in and talk Bearhawks. There is a lot of great flying in the area and small town airports to stop in to for a meal. Let me know if you would like recommendations on places to fly for views or a $100 hamburger.

Thanks Bill - I'll try to get down for a visit. Should have time after work some day next week if you're free. I'd love to see what your plane and that's exactly the kind of info I'm looking for.
I've been through Felts once a long time ago and flew up and camped around lake Cascade once, but I'm guessing there's a lot more.

PM sent with phone number, but posting the remainder here:

If you drop into Pullman during business hours Inter-State Aviation has a courtesy car that they will loan with a fuel purchase. Everyone at Inter-state knows me since I do welding repair for their aircraft. My recommendations for a meal would be Humbleburger or the Alehouse in Moscow (I recommend the Groobz if you like jalapenos).

Lewiston Id: I think Hillcrest has a courtesy car, the place to stop is Effies for the Effieburger.- It is worth it, you will probably need a to-go box!

Richland Wa: Annes Creole and Soul food- On field, highly recommended! make sure to check hours they are open.

What length/types of fields are you comfortable flying your Rv7 into? There are a lot of good grass strips and backcountry opportunities.

CDA lake is a great flight, there is often a lot of sightseeing traffic so keep an eye out. Saint Maries has an F100 wild weasel as the wind indicator. Courtesy car and always open pilot lounge is available on field so it makes a good stop. Grapple Hause, or 3B Grill are great options

Lake Pend Oreille is a great flight, I have flown over it to Thompson Falls, over Lookout pass, Kellogg and back as a loop.

Lake Roosevelt is a beautiful flight as well. I am not sure of the schedule, but Grand Coulee Dam has a "Dam laser show" that could be worth checking out.

I'm gone for the month of June, but there are a couple Bearhawks at Sandpoint ID KSZT, about 90 miles from Spokane. I'll be back after July 4th if you're in town...

Thanks - appreciate all the tips.

With the RV - 2000' is usually plenty, and I try to stay on grass over gravel. I'm just a caretaker so I try to baby her...
I'm already not looking forward to being away from the bearhawk project and easy access to the RV so I'll reach out and try to connect as work and life permits to get my airplane fix.
