Patrol Elevator balance weight

When we poured ours, we calculated about 1.8- 1.9 lbs based on .1 pounds per square foot figure given for the amount of fabric and finish being offset. Only a calculation so far so we don't yet know how accurate it will be. It was surprisingly easy to pour them.

Hi There
I was just wondering if the weight you had mentioned above (1.8-1,9) lbs. is the weight per each elevator or a total of the 2 tied together. Also, did you make any additional allowance for the paint which would be applied later of course.
Just going into the paint shop next week & I feel that the elevator has too much weight. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks very much
Brian

It was the weight for each elevator. We figured out the approximate square footage of the unbalanced portion of the elevators and multiplied by.1 lbs per foot, the estimated weight of the covering through paint. I think the .1 lb figure was in beartracks from Bob Barrows but not sure. I also have read that overbalance is better than under. If ours is much over, I plan on drilling some of the weight out from the bottom and then patch.

Hi Ed
Thanks for taking the time give me some data. Your rapid response is greatly appreciated! I think I will be drilling out quite a bit of the weight from the counter balance lead. With the stick in the neutral position on the ground, & then let it go, the stick goes to the full 'nose up' position with a 'clunk'.
Thanks again
Brian
