  • Aileron ribs lightening hole callout

Built the ribs etc. for the ailerons a couple months ago and riveted together the aileron skeleton, primarily using the full sized aileron rib sheet(material size, hole size and location, outer flange definition) with reference to the main drawing on the aileron assembly sheet(rib location/flange direction, hinge location) to rivet the skeleton together. Recently mated them to the wing skeletons and in the process noticed that in the hinge detail section of the aileron assembly sheet there is a callout for flanging the lightening holes(note this callout is not on the full size aileron rib sheet ). Was starting to create flanging dies to flange them on the already assembled skeleton but was concerned the ribs would be deformed and difficult to straighten. Spoke with Bob this afternoon and he said to carry on without flanging the holes so no harm/no foul.

The plans are excellent so far(everything has been built from scratch per the prints and assembly of all the disparate parts into the Cleco'd wing skeletons went quite well with everything(ribs, wing steel, aileron bell crank/hinges/linkages/pulleys) fitting. I was caught off guard by the flanging callout not being on the main aileron rib sheet but in a detail drawing on a separate sheet that would seemingly be unrelated to making the ribs or assembling them to the aileron spars.
