  • Bad dimension?

In Bob's building manual for the patrol, the welding jig for aileron support frame has the dimension 1.04"

Does that number that comes from the bearhawk 4 place?

On the patrol, I think the number should be 1.02" - at least that is what the plans suggest it should be.

One of the two numbers is wrong, or I have a couple of theories:
No one cares because they can not drill within +- 0.020.
The other possibility is that the weld at 1.04 spacing will shrink to 1.02"

I would go with what the plans call out. 0.02" is less than 1/32" or the width of an ultra fine sharpie. The support frames are what space out your spars on assembly, 0.02" isn't enough to notice in how it will fly. When you weld up the supports you should start at one end and move all the way to the other side welding on the opposite bracket on last to account for shrinkage. I used 2" angle and drilled a hole through both ends so the actual tube length will not be critical after the jig is welded up. I will sand the ends flush before welding the ends of the tubes to the brackets after everything is welded.
