Do the Patrol ailerons need to have a curved top surface?

I made my aileron ribs off the mylar profile, same as the flap ribs, but a smart person brought to my attention that the drawing for the rib shows a slight curve along the top of the rib. The extra camber is not called out, and I didn't really see it until I laid a straightedge on the drawing. The flap ribs are drawn pretty straight across the top.

Smart Person also informed me that this was the subject of a discussion some time ago, perhaps before my time on the Yahoo group.

As of now, I have the set of aileron ribs completed, with nearly-straight sides per the mylar. Happy to ask Bob and let you know what he says but thought I'd check here first.

    Thanks!

Mine are also "to the mylar". It may have a slightly curved surface, but mine look pretty flat up close.

So I thought it was time for a title change. I routed the slots in the edges of the bending form and rounded off the edges so the metal doesn't split. Also routed

I suspect, even though it looks flat, that the curve will be carried through when it's covered. Being a turbulent airfoil, I'm not sure it matters so much by the time it gets back that far anyway.

With covering, rib stitches and tapes, it's kinda hard to be real exact, but mine appear to be dead flat.

Thanks for the observations! I'll hang on to these ribs unless someone comes along with a compelling case to make them curved.
