  • Water Jet service??

Can anyone refer to me a good water jet cutting shop? I need to have my wing strut attach plates cut. Thanks for the advise!

Please post up if you find one. I had them quoted a couple of times and they wanted between $2-400 that is just simply nuts. If you want I can send you the cad file in a DFX but its slightly different than how Bob has it drawn. Only because I overlaid it on the spar I drew too.

I will keep you posted, I would just buy them from Mark, but he estimates the end of July for delivery. I would like to finish the spars so I can begin assembly but I may just wait until then.

        Barry,
I am just thinking about making them out of plate myself. Rough cut them out of the plate and sand down to size with stationary sander

Guys, by the time I have the 4130 shipped to my door I will have $60 in material. We can buy them complete from Mark for $90. I think I will wait until July, I can work on the rear spars, flaps and ailerons until then. John, I am ready to cut spar caps for the rear spars when you are!

I got the blade. Lets figure out when we can do it. Just finished the annual on the Cherokee last weekend.

There's an outfit in Portland OR I've been checking out, laser cutting instead of water jet. They can handle up to 5x10 sheet. link below.

Laser cutting is not recommended for use on 4130. Stress cracks tend to form afterwords. I have free acess to a laser but chose to pay $ to get the struts done. You could also have the strut bars machined.

Thanks for the heads up on the laser cutting, I did not know that. I will be waiting until July and order them from Mark. I can do other things until they arrive. Thanks again.
