  • Rear Spar pocket rib attach angle placement.

Can someone give me some advise on the placement of the aft attach angles for the pocket ribs and any other attach angles that go on the aft side of the rear spars. I have looked the plans over and cannot see where it is called out. I am sure I am missing this. I am ready to rivet the attach angle and spacers to the rear spar and don't want to screw it up now........

Look at drawing two and you will see the dashed lines on the rear spar at the ailerons. Those are your pocket ribs. Most of them are in line with a center rib except for a couple that encloses the hinge area.

I wanted to add to Barry's old post here. For those Patrol scratch builders who have finished their rear spars, did you place a spacer at all pocket rib locations, and if so, did you put them on both sides?

Looking at the aileron layout, attached, I figure I'll need an additional spacer at each pocket rib location, except for those coinciding with center ribs 11 and 14, where there will be a spacer on both sides already. Where they coincide with ribs 12, 13 and 15/tip, there is no cap strip - are folks using a full-length spacer there or do your attach angles have enough depth there to reach the spar?

      Thanks!!

I did not use a spacer if there was no cap strip.
