When I tested that location, it was terrible! I've forgotten which way the static pressure sent, but just as soon as I applied takeoff power, the altimeter move something like 1 or 2 hundred feet.
I just did a quick look and failed to find the pictures of my test setup. I milled a surface mounted static port that I taped for a few different locations for testing. The boot cowl would have been very convenient. When that didn't work I tried the common location on the side of the aft fuselage and that seemed to work very well. That is where my static ports are now located.
