  • Elevator travel issue?

    Hi folks

Just rigging my elevators and trim tabs etc on my 2024 Patrol QB kit and seem to have a bit of a problem.!

I have the fuselage level, and with the pushrod disconnected, I can get the 35.4 up and 21.2 down as per the instructions...it's hitting the stops at that. However when I attach the pushrod, down elevator is restricted to just 15.5 as the bottom of the pushrod hits the cross tube as per the photo. Also to get the rose joint to sit into the fork I had to file/ radius off its outer edges. (or else file off the inside of the fork which I was reticent to do).

The only solution I can see is that I would have to create a clearance dent or scallop in the rod or the small cross tube ...wondering did anyone else encounter this at all?

    Thanks !

Hey Paul, looks like there may be an easy fix. Does the other side of the push-pull tube have a thin end, some 10 inches with a reduced diameter? Then simply reverse the tube. If not, your tube is missing an important feature and you should talk to Virgil.

Thanks Stefan and (Steve too)…I’ll look at that tomorrow …silly me I guess I placed the tube wrong way round, I had the narrow end at the idler
