  • New Bearhawk 5 plans builder

    Good morning everyone!

I am in the planning stages of building my Bearhawk 5, waiting on the plans from Bob now. Any and all suggestions and ideas about the order of operations of the build, places to source material, tools and techniques used would all be welcome.

As I haven’t gotten started bending or cutting metal for mine yet all I can recommend is to find somebody local enough for you to visit and see what they’re all about so that you can see any little oddities you have questions about from the plans or any little trick and tools they used to help out in the day to day or building. I went and met with a group of guys today all building at stol it aircraft in linden tn and have left with lots of answered questions and more motivation to get started

      Rough order of operations:
      1. Wing ribs tooling and fabrication
      2. Wing spar assemblies
      3. Wing steel weldments
      4. Wing final assembly
      5. Empennage weldments
      6. Fuselage weldment
      7. Landing gear weldments and install
      8. Control system weldments and install
      Can't really see beyond that.
      Just my .02.
      Get Eric Newton's books.
Read the drawings until you can visualize the components while in bed at night.
      Good Luck
