Hi everyone,
I am really excited I have just purchased the plans and have the wings builders manual for the 4 placed Bearhawk currently I am setting up the workshop for this project. I live in Western Australia near Bunbury, I don't have a pilots licence (I have been in many small aircraft and enjoy flying) but I figure that this project will be a 5 - 8 year project so i will have plenty of time to get one and I think will get a lot of enjoyment from building it anyway. My father has finished building a sonex around a year ago, this was his retirement project so he should be able to give me some good advice.
I am looking at purchasing some aluminum to build the wings. I found a file (which is attached) regarding estimated aluminum for the wing, is this a fairly good guide to follow? I am thinking of ordering all the materials except for the wing skins and the fuel tank sheets, I would like to place the order in the next week before the sheet prices go up due to the Australian dollar falling. The sheets come from Melbourne so I need to order as much as I think I need to reduce the cost of frieght.
