  • South Carolina - Bearhawk LSA #L-089

    Just a quick introduction:

My name is Stephen Murphey and I grew up in Western Oklahoma. Over the last year, I had the opportunity to complete my tail wheel endorsement and really enjoyed the Luscombe 8F experience. I currently live in Lynchburg South Carolina and occasionally fly the c-172 operated by Windsock Aviation out of Florence.

My entire career has been centered around Caterpillar equipment dealers. I graduated from a technician training program called Caterpillar ThinkBIG and pulled wrenches for the dealer in Tulsa. I had the opportunity to move into training with Oklahoma State University - Institute of Technology who facilitates the Caterpillar program in Oklahoma. In 2013 an opportunity opened in Florence where I currently work with Florence-Darlington Technical College as the Director of the Caterpillar Dealer Academy.

I have looked long and hard at aircraft ownership and airplanes. The Bearhawk is the standard that I have compared every other aircraft against for the last year. Unboxing L-089 this week is only the start of a fun an rewarding project. The plan is to review and organize this year and start building over the winter.

If you have any tips to pass along for builder/parts organization and project management, I would be glad to read them.

    Thanks,

    Stephen
