Don’t sell the 180 hp short. I have flown behind both engines unless you are seriously flying back country short strips, flying out of high altitude high density altitude strips or flying floats the 180 hp will do a fine job. Is the 540 better in performance, by all means. But there are a lot more things to consider than straight up take off performance: additional purchase costs, fuel and maintenance. If I found a 540 at “my†price I probably would consider swapping out but I have a perfectly good flying aircraft and I am probably “too cheapâ€.
