filling bad hole with filler rod

I tried to find this topic that Ivan had asked but couldn't find the thread.

Bob Barrows advised me that it is acceptable practise.. He said that a lot of 4130 from the surrounding material mixes with the filler rod to make it stronger than just the strength of the filler rod material. Mark
