  • How do I fix this?

Im not sure if the image will come through so here's a description. On the main spar web underneath the spacer bar that is 2 center ribs out from the splice, I have an oblong hole. Apparently when I matched drilled the spacer bars and attach angles to the spare web they were not aligned correctly. Now the hole measures to be 0.18" long but the correct width wide. What is the best way to correct this? Thanks.

I'd drill it out until its round and then just place a rivet on either side of it (provided you have distance for minimum rivet/edge distance spacing).

I would drill to the next larger rivet size, making sure that the edge distances are ok on the other parts. You could try to use a longer rivet to see if it will fill the hole in correctly, but chances are that the tail will fold over and you will have a mess. Best bet is to drill the hole for the next larger diameter rivet.

If you can drill it up to the next size rivet that would be fine. If you can not I would file or drill the hole so that it is rounder without sharp edges and place another rivet above and/or below it maintaining proper edge distance. If the next size up gets you close, it should be fine. I assume your spacer pieces are fine. If they have the same hole replace them. Just make sure there are not sharp edges in the hole that would allow a crack to form. The spacer rivets are not as critical as the top and bottom cap strip rivets.

I will add a rivet above and below. The hole is .18" long so I would need to drill a 3/8" hole to make it round again. Thanks guys. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
