    You have to think about how the Nicopress sleeve "grows" as it is crimped and the crimp order becomes clear.

    For the splice shown in figure 7-12, the crimp order ensures there isn't any slack generated in the center section between the sleeves. If crimped in any other order, the sleeve would "grow" toward the center and force slack(likely unequal) in that center section.

    For an eye, the first crimp is in the center which makes the sleeve grow toward the "dead end" burt more importantly toward the thimble so when the crimp next to the thimble is completed the thimble is tightly captured.

    The crimp orders are not an accident but well thought out and a detail to not ignore.

      Yep, there's a definite reasoning for the crimp order, as shown in the referenced figures. I was saying we can't use figures for different applications interchangeably.
