Subject: [Bearhawk] Parts Tumbler
Right, wrong or indifferent, I have found I can deburr (anything) with quick-loc disk of various sizes but low cost of 1.5", 2" or 3" dia. on my air sander. It will almost take you longer to switch parts in your hands than it will take to actually deburr the item.
This is effective on just about any shape. if you find the you don't like holding the parts flat on the table with your hand, a very easy to make holding clamp can be made with the adjusting part of a vice grip with a leather/plastic/rubber holding pad on the clamping force side. Clamp is cut and welded to table. (lower part of vice clamp is discarded as you only need the two handles, the adjustment, and the upper jaw.) Easy-peasy!
I have deburred 10's of 1000's of inches of various parts, and could do a couple of entire wings in a day easy… maybe 1/2 of a day. But I don't do it that way as repetitive work is not as much fun, (and this should be fun) no one says you have to do ALL parts in a day…. Set a goal, pick a pile of one item, give that a 1 hour run and your done… Next day a different pile. Won't belong and that elephant is ate! (one bite at a time)

Four passes and you're done (hold the work piece at a slight angle to the wheel, don't let the wheel 'spear chuck' your work!)
I made a tumbler from a worn out tire. Worked fine, but you'll be done deburring long before building a tumbler. Oh, I use it on parts machined on the milling machine.

Guys,
I have been "deburring" attach angles and stiffeners endlessly and I have about a zillion to go, so I'm thinking how can I do this faster?
Thought: Why not make a parts tumbler ala rock tumbler.....would this work for smaller parts? I could use something like walnut shell bits or something like that and it would debur the surface and slightly roughen the surface in prep for paint.
Thoughts?
