  • Engine Weight

I've always been interested in Engine Weight. What makes one engine lighter than another?

I got this scale recently, and had an opportunity to weight my engine which is a Lycoming O-360 with Fuel Injection. It hangs with the Plywood disc (used to jig the nose bowl for cowl building) exhaust, one Bendix magneto, Bendix FI system, Fuel pump, Prop Governor, belt driven Alternator, and engine mount installed. I'm real happy with its weight.

Whats missing? The flywheel, one Magneto, Baffling, oil cooler, wiring, and some liquid lines.

Looks like our engine might be pretty close to yours.

Aero Sport Power O-375-A1A. 60A Plane Power alternator, Sky-Tec starter, Hartzell prop governor, two E-Mags, mechanical fuel pump (which has since been removed), primer system, engine mount, and flywheel. We do have the magnesium light weight oil sump as well.

Missing: Carburetor, intake air box, exhaust, oil cooler, baffling, sensors and wiring.

    290.4 lbs
