I’ve been hemming and hawing about where to mount them. I think I just fingered it out. Thanks.

Thanks for the input! Our current aircraft has an electric trim on/off switch. It’s a great option.

Tell us what you did today on your Bearhawk Project

I installed the left windows. Actually I did it several times! I ended up creating two C channels that were 1.5” x .625” x 1.5”. I notched them to clear the stand off tabs for the window frames. That was the easy part. The curved part of the “D” window was the hard part. I tried several...

    2 Unrelated Questions

    1. I’m just about ready to start covering my BH5. I have the horizontal stab set to -2 degrees. Do I need to set all the flying wires and strut prior to removing the tail feathers to cover? 2. Has anyone installed the Ray Allen (T3) servo and maintained the manual trim? I’d like to have both...

    Chery Max 3212 Alternative

Mark I ran my aux fuel tank lines a little to close to the lower wing skin. Two spots that have fittings I can’t get a bucking bar into. They both required 4-4 rivets. I did use the MK319BS in the couple spots that I couldn’t get th that used 3-3.5 rivets.

    Chery Max 3212 Alternative

It looks like the factory that made the Chery Max 3212 burned last year. I’m building a 5 and I’m riveting the lower skin on. There are a couple spots that the manual suggests the 3212 because you can’t get a bucking bar in there. Anyone have a suggestion for an alternative? Thanks, Nick

    Landing Lights

I’m installing my landing lights in my BH5. I got the mounting brackets from Virgil for the Flyled Taildragger lights. Did anyone use any particular angle for your lights? Mine and plumb with the wing at about 11.5 degrees nose up. The lights have two LEDs that point down as taxi lights and 5...

Wire Type and Fuel Tank Sealant

I’m almost ready to close up the left wing. I have a heated pitot tube (Dynon), fuel transfer pump and WAT Blaze position/Nav/Strobe lights, and Flyleds Taildragger Pulse landing/taxi lights. The install directions suggest wire and AC 43 has a section to determine gauge based on power and...

    Fuel Tank Cover Nut Plate

I’m installing the nut plates for the main and aux tank covers. The first 4 from the leading edge moving aft I can’t get my drill in there to drill the holes. Any advice? The first one will be difficult to install the rivet without drilling out the factory installed rivets to create some room...

Strut Penetration In Lower Cowl Extension

I’ve got the templates for the strut penetrations on the lower cowl extension. I’m just not sure where to place them. I’d imagine it’s measured from station C. Anyone have some guidance? Once the boot cowl is finished I’m going to put the fuselage aside and start on the wings. The wing manual...

    Rudder pedal non slip

I was considering using something to increase the friction on the pedals/brakes. Though maybe bed liner. Anyone else do this? Thx!

    Sun n Fun 2025

Anyone going? We are 160 hours into our build and I don’t think we will be finished in time. We plan to go and camp either in GA camping or Vintage. We’ll be in a 1969 Baron, N100GM. It’s our first time going.

    Where to measure plumb

I’ve leveled the fuselage at the wheels. When I put the level on the vertical stabilizer it is .9 degrees off. I’d like to check the angle of incidence and make sure the horizontal stabilizer is level and perpendicular to the vertical stabilizer. I’m sure I could pull the vertical stab plumb...
