A little too late for you but I managed to get four bolts in my brake mount. The two AN4 bolts I tapped into the backing plate as well as adding nuts. Hopefully this will keep things from moving around.
For what it’s worth this cluster of engine controls in my panel worked out perfect for placement and distance between controls. Everything is mounted on a sub-panel cutout which allows for easy removal.
Here are some pics from the front of my Patrol. If you order the VAN’s RV-8 baffle kit you need to add some to the height to make it fit a Patrol cowl. I also created two custom fiberglass pieces which provide a nice ramp to the baffle material mounted on the front cowl.
Turns out an airbox from a 180 HP Aviat Husky is an absolutely perfect fit on the Patrol including the angled air inlet connection for carb heat. These boxes occasionally get changed out if the bushing are worn but that’s an easy repair for us home builders. The airbox is the best I have ever...
