Looking for advice for new plane adjustments

Confirm your stabs are perfectly parallel with the fuse with the required angle of attack. Make sure they are parallel, 0.0* from the root to the tip. Very easy to improperly rig the wires especially if the initial rigging was done before fabric and not checked afterwards. For a slightly heavy...

    Bearhawk Patrol Belly Pod

Also for another shelf in the baggage area, I welded in a 1/2 X .035 tube around the frame at the height of the back of the rear seat and covered it with heavy fabric. Great for light fluffy stuff.

    Bearhawk Patrol Belly Pod

Some of the beavers Ive flown over the years had a long canvas sock hanging in the tail of the fuse with an aluminum flange at the rear cabin bulkhead for rods. Could be made out of light fabric. Wouldn’t weigh anything.

    Metal Shrinking Advice

Take your cowl off. Use a long straight edge from the fuse formers to the firewall and manipulate the fire wall flange to lay flat against the straight edge. Use a 1-1.5” hard wood block with a slit cut into one end. (Some call it a Bob block something). You can use a tight bungie or ratchet...

    Skylight Rear Retainers

Would anyone have some pictures of the retainers for the two skylight panels where they are terminated at the rear? Where the fabric would attach? I have a bunch of parts here but nothing is jumping out that looks like it would work. The kit is third hand and there are some parts missing so I’m...

Newton SPRL Fuel Valve Cover 3D Print

I used a 1/8” shim under the mounting flange I turned down on the lathe. The gascolator is just about touching the cowl extension underneath. Closest I could get it to the floor.

    Fwd fuel line routing

Just some pics how I ran the lines, gascolator, valve and pump to the firewall

    Gascolator-Prefilter-Boost Pump

Just received this reply to a question whether a prefilter was necessary in a boost pump set up for FI with a gascolator already upstream: “Mechanical or electronic fuel injection have no place where water droplets can collect and do not need a gascolator“ Really?? Please educate the old one here.

Model 5 With Rear Doors on Pilots’ Side

Just out of curiosity, is the seaplane model fitted with the rear doors on the left side of the fuselage rather than the right?

Corrosion Under Fabric Aileron Leading Edges

For the last two years, corrosion has been growing under the aileron leading edge fabric between the two hinges. The original aluminum was not primed before the fabric was put on. I used Stewarts System for the process. There isn’t anything happening on the two end pockets on either one of the...

Wing Aileron Cable Pulley by the Strut Straps

Plans say A210-4A or MS24566-4B pulley at this station. I see the wing new instructions are listing MS20220-1. Thats a difference in the bore diameter of roughly 1.75”. Any clarification on this? Reason for? Design change? Thanks

    Completed Bearhawks with High CHT’s

The 2nd owner of the 4 place I saw last week sent me the picture of what not to do

    Completed Bearhawks with High CHT’s

I don’t know what your building but if you make your lower cowl deeper rather than just tucking the bottom skin towards the bottom of the tunnel, you will have a larger exit area rather than cutting the cowl out forward of the firewall and relying on a large lip to create a low pressure area...

    Completed Bearhawks with High CHT’s

Over the last while, Ive had a chance to look at several completed-flying Bearhawks. Most have been experiencing high running temps and when I see what the original builder did, I understood why the problem. Some have not extended the bottom engine cowl below the level of the bottom of the...
