Hardware Callout - BH Companion

The Flying Mechanic

Companion QB #20
While I am sure that anyone else could build a Companion from the hardware callout on the website, I've found I needed a little more structure for how I organize my hardware and components. Tonight, I started my "Expanded Companion Hardware Callout" spreadsheet. It isn't near complete, but by the time I am through, I hope to have documented every thin washer and cotter pin I've used!

Basically, I copied all the BH5 components and am now going through the Companion's Hardware to match them up. It isn't perfect, but theoretically, when I finish it, it will be something to hand back to BH and maybe be a QOL improvement for future builders!

Still keeping up with this? I tried initially, but ended up ordering qty 10 every time I ran out of something or needed to order something new. Not very efficient, but with shipping costs accounting for a significant percentage of every transaction, it’s justified in my head.

Probably be able to build another Companion when I’m done.

You are building a very good hardware inventory. You wont regret it and neither will your hangar neighbors.

And this is how I ended up with two projects after finishing my rv-8. I have all the tools, I know how to use them, I have a ton of hardware. It would be a shame not to build another one, right?

I am still keeping it. I have come to recognize the potential issue in the fact that tolerances of hardward and parts are enough to make this slightly less viable for a "perfect solution" since sometimes you go up or down a bolt size just because of tolerance allowance of each component. That being said, I will have a cost, components, and potentially usable hyperlink in the spreadsheet for where I got the component when I am finished.
