    Bearhawk "Stuff" from the Factory

So, while I was beavering away on my RV-14 the last couple of years, and the company was purchased, apparently there are items one can now buy from the factory. I see them referenced here and there...is there a web store? How would one browse the available items?

    Wing Manual Question

I am muddling my way through the wings and using the new wing manual. On page 20 step 1, it states that the distance is 1.2 inches but the arrow is shown as 1.7 inches…which one is correct? I have sent this to Virgil, but no answer yet. Thanks for any insight

    New Fuel Caps

Anyone got a photo of the new caps? I'm in the middle of the wings and need to assess what changes if any I need to make to accommodate the new fuel caps Thanks

    A couple of other parts

I"m having a good time with Shapr3D and making some stuff someone else may find useful... I designed a custom NACA duct because I hacked up cutting the hole in the boot cowl...so, I have this if you want it. Let me know and I'll email the step file to you...I can't post step files here And a...

    Wrong Nosebowl?

So, as I start to get serious about the cowl and finally start paying attention to the nose bowl I got with the kit, I see the flange is 14" in diameter...I need 13"...did I get a nose bowl for the BH 4?

    Cowl Air Scoop

Has anyone modeled an intake air scoop for the nose bowl? This is one of my goals for the Companion. I got two spools of PAHT-CF for Christmas and I'm imagining a nicely faired "ram" scoop interfaced with my horizontal intake manifold. Not that it would alter the speed of the plane, but it...

    Cowl and Baffles

I'm thinking that the order of construction for finishing this area should be baffles, lower cowl and then upper cowl last...what say ye?

    Dip Stick Markings

So, I have a "Bob Engine" and discovered that the dip stick has no markings on it. It's an IO-360. Yes, i can add oil a quart at a time and assume "full" means 8 qts or some thing like that...anyone else have this issue when buying from Bob? I might call Mike Meador and ask him, but I doubt they...

    Oil Cooler Plenum

I thought I'd post the below link from Vans Airforce for 3D models for oil cooler plenums and fittings by hgerhardt. I printed the plenum for the 20006A cooler last night and it fits almost perfectly...I printed it with PETG which is not appropriate for a final installation, but just to prove...

    Engine Mounts

I have a IO-360 built by Bob and am trying to ascertain which engine vibration isolators I need to buy. The engine mount has the 2-5/8" ID cups, and after reading everything I could find on this, it seems that I need the Lord J-7402-16 isolators...then there's discussion about the Lord J-7402-24...

    Brushing EkoPrime?

I want to prime my fuselage, but the weather is not conducive at all to say the least and having sprayed EkoPrime on the tail feathers inside my shop, I can say that will never happen again. The overspray goes everywhere and you can't blow it off. Big mistake. So now I'm thinking about brushing...

    Finishing Fabric Around Gear Attachments

I'm "this close" to finishing off covering the fuselage but I'm stumped on the best way to attach the fabric to the gear/wing strut attachment. I have the belly fabric attached to this area after a fashion but I'm not happy with it. Anyone have some pointers or photos to share on this?

    Aileron and Flap Covering

I've seen some who appear to have covered the ailerons and flaps before fitting to the wings and some apparently do them at the very end of the wing build sequence. I started to begin mounting the hinge brackets to the ailerons per the plans with the intention of covering them and then stopped...

    VS Covering Issue

Started covering the vertical stab this weekend and put the initial shrink on the starboard side. It pulled the side of the fabric way over away from the rib. There's no way I can pull it into the rib without ripping the fabric. I can't figure out what I did wrong. Any ideas?

    Interior Painting

So, I'm trying to settle on a strategy for my interior. As I've mentioned before, I'm building a utility vehicle here so I'm not terribly concerned about having a luxury interior, but i do want it to look decent (whatever that is). I'm thinking of covering the lower parts of the interior to...

    Control Stick Wiring and Routing

I've searched and can't find much about how people have routed their control stick wiring. At this time, I'm thinking I'd route the wiring for each stick through a hole drilled at the bottom of the vertical portion of the stick, probably the aft side of the stick and then route everything...

    Drain Holes

I am almost done with covering the empennage and need to add drain holes before I seal all of it with Ekobond. Of course, the answer is to put them where water would collect, but I was wondering if anyone had photos of where they put theirs. I'm planning small round doilies to reinforce the...

    Rudder Covering

I finally finished covering my elevators and now it's onto the rudder. I am in a quandary trying to figure out how to terminate the fabric by the rudder horn. I've used the aluminum brackets furnished in the kit for the elevators and the rudder top, but I won't be able to use the last one by the...

    Rib Stitch Trim Tab?

I've covered both trim tabs and am wondering if the little brace needs to be rib stitched. It's not a rib per se and with the thinness of the brace, I wonder if it would even be harmful to attempt it. I plan to put a piece of tape over it for reinforcement in any case. Thoughts?

    Tail Inspection Port Size

I'm finishing up the inspection ports in the fuselage and scratching my head on the size and shape to make the access ports for the elevator control horns. It appears that most use a rectangular opening and some use a round opening. I'm ok with either shape, but wonder about the size to make it...
