Gear Mount Bolts - Lube - Bushings

I'm starting LSA gear fab and had a question for guys with higher time Bearhawks. How are you handling lubrication of the gear mount bolts and have you noticed any play/wear developing in the gear leg bore or bolts?

    Landing Gear Attach Bushings?

I'm about to start the landing gear on my LSA and noticed there isn't any bushing incorporated into the attach points. Has anyone flying a higher time Bearhawk noticed any play developing in the landing gear attach points? If so where? I see posts on the cub forum regarding gear attach point...

    Floorboard Material / Installation

I'm curious to hear what fellow builders are using for floorboards in their Bearhawks? The LSA plans show several different thicknesses of aluminum. I've seen plywood, carbon fiber, or aluminum used in cubs. I read in a forum that someone had used some small beads of silicone between the...

    Corvair powered Bearhawk LSA

I just stumbled across this Corvair powered LSA over at Flycorvair.net https://flycorvair.net/2016/07/01/ho...ge-6250-miles/ Great to see another LSA being completed. If you click on the image it is viewable high res.

    LSA Thrust Line

BTAZ Looking over the plans and booklet I'm assuming the thrust line is 0 degrees? The Patrol plans show a -1 deg thrust line on the three view title page, and the side fuselage layout. The LSA only shows fuselage center lines. I don't see anything directly specifying the thrust line.

    Twin Turbo Lycoming 720

This isn't Bearhawk related, but I stumbled on it this evening and had to share. This guy built a Nemesis NXT and put a twin turbo 720 on it. Very impressive. Maybe an engine option for the Expedition Chris In Marshfield ? Teaser video: https://youtu.be/MkBb9u_3qXk Engine run up...

Horizontal Stab Incidence and Strut Construction

I was reading through my plans and didn't see much detail on the horizontal stabilizer strut for the LSA. Someone asked about it a couple years back in the LSA forum, but it didn't seem like they found a clear answer. (...

Bearhawk LSA/Patrol Control Torque Tube Removal

Can the control torque tube (the tube that runs under the floor and holds the control sticks) be removed after fabric is in place? Looking over the plans and build photos it looks like you may need to install the torque tube before fabric?

    Bearhawk LSA Video Request

It would be excellent to see some additional video of the LSA. Loading, startup, taxiing, takeoff, landings, etc. If anyone has the opportunity to take some video, and doesn't have the resources to edit or post the footage, I have some decent video editing software and experience uploading...

    Weld-On Axles

Does anyone know of a source for ground and threaded 1-1/4 axles with 16tpi? Aircraft Spruce sells 1-1/4 x 12tpi. Both the plans and Matco spec 16tpi.

    Patrol/LSA Tail Spring Setup

I'm at the point of deciding which tail spring mount to fabricate on my LSA. Plans call for a tapered rod spring with a welded in mount. The design looks very clean, light, and low drag. That being said, the only spring/suspension option for that setup is the round spring. A standard leaf spring...

    Fuel Selector Valve

Does anyone know what type of fuel selector valve Bob used on the LSA? From the photos it looks like a 4 way selector valve you would find at a marine supply store.

LSA Wheel and Brake Selection Guidance

Wayne Massey listed the wheel, brake, and tire setup he is using on the LSA (I believe Bob's prototype and Mark's use this same setup as well) in a previous thread: http://bearhawkforums.com/forum/bear...sa-kit-started) Matco 8" wheel and brake with a 21" tire. Matco lists this setup as weighing...

    Station C-S Angle?

I can't find anything indicating the angle of station C-S. I see the bottom gear shock strut fitting is angled to 18 deg, and I'm assuming the C-S should match that. Looks like BTAZ matched the angle of the front door frame, which looks to be around 17.75 deg. Can anyone point to where this...

    Compact Welding Cart

I needed a compact cart for a small wire feed, and TIG welder. Many of the ones I found placed a single bottle to the rear of the machine. This made the depth of the cart too long for my application, and I needed to hold two bottles. (argon and 72/25) This is the design I came up with. When...

    LSA140 Build

I appreciate the ideas, experience, and resources that the Bearhawk community shares with each other. I will be posting my experience building the LSA in this thread, and hope fellow builders find it enjoyable and useful. The fuselage will be constructed using the Bearhawk tubing kit. Build...

    LSA Wing Load Test

Has any load testing been done on the LSA wing? I found the static load testing that was done in 2002 on the 4 place Bearhawk, but can't find anything on the Patrol or LSA.
