Folding rear seat for easy baggage access

I finished my version of a folding rear seat in my LSA so thought I would post it here. When the rear seat was one piece, there were three attach points on each side consisting of a ¼” bolt that was welded into the seat frame and slipped into a corresponding bracket slot on the fuselage. My...

    Fuel valve bracket

I decided not to split my floorboard after all. After trimming some corners that were catching and learning the technique, the floorboard isn't that hard to remove as one piece.

    Fuel valve bracket

Here is an update to my fuel valve mount. I made a new piece out of .025 material to replace the .125 thick piece from the kit. The old piece was 12oz and the new piece is 2.2oz. There is a 1/2" lip bent down at the front and the back to stiffen it as well as the two flared holes. I still...

    Kansas Bearhawk LSA Build

I'm behind on sharing my LSA build progress so I'll do a little catching up. Here is what is looks like currently. The first thing I did was install the main landing gear and wheels. This meant I had to assemble the struts for the main landing gear. Mark Goldberg gave me a tip on how to...

    Kansas Bearhawk LSA Build

My LSA Quick Build Kit arrived today so I decided to start a build thread for it. Here are some pictures of the delivery. Located outside of Wichita, Kansas if anyone wants to stop and visit. I'm planning to stick pretty close to the plans in my build with the biggest deviation being the use...

    New Zealand LSA

I think you are probably right about them being 850's. I was comparing them to a picture of the 850's with 8" wheels on Mark Goldberg's LSA and trying to decide if the NZ LSA had larger tires or if it was just the larger sidewall due to the 6" wheels.

Sourcing Material for Main Spar Cap Strips

On the LSA, the main spar cap strip material is 0.125" x 1" 2024T3 up to 12' long. These are available from Aircraft Spruce for about $30 ea. for 12' lengths plus $170 freight shipping to Kansas. I can also buy the material locally in 4' x 12' sheets and have it sheared into 1" wide strips and...

LSA Vertical Fin offset for Corvair

I noticed in the plans on drawing 16 that the vertical fin is offset to the left by 3/4" For kit builders planning on a Corvair engine that turns the opposition direction, does this mean the fuselage kit has to be special ordered in order to have the offset in the opposite direction?

    New Member in Kansas

I've decided to buy some LSA plans and begin familiarizing myself with them with the plan of beginning to build 18 months from now after I finish up some other projects. This will be my first build and will probably be a mix between scratch building and kit. I'm an 80hr pilot with all my time...
