    Aileron hinge dimensions

Ok this time I searched the forum first but could not find the answer. Drawing 14 shows 6 5/16" from the face of the rear spar to the center of pivot of the aileron hinge. The book shows 6 3/16" on the drawing for the welding jig. I measured off the master rib jig (mylar) and scaled off the...

    Pulleys?

I need to order the pulleys that are in the wing so I looked ahead to see other pulley sizes. I guess I am blind but where do I find the pulleys that are at the lower end of the wing struts. I've looked through the plans and the book several times and not seeing them. Doug

    Fuel Tank Bay Cover

OK. Am I blind or just my head up and locked? I can't find in the plans or the book the material for the fuel tank cover. The skin in that section is .025 but it does not say for the cover. Also the last time I visited Donna and Dennis they showed me that the QB cover has skin stiffeners on it...

    Overhead flaps lever

Has anyone thought about putting the flap lever overhead like Carbon Cubs and others. Got a couple ideas but ??? Never flown with them overhead but I think I would like it. Doug

Skin overlap at rear spar/tip rib

Does anyone have any pictures of the area where the rear spar, tip rib, and pocket rib is? Also how the skin lays in that area? There needs to be a narrow piece of skin from there to the trailing edge for the wing tip to attach to. Does that go under the corner of the last section of skin? Doug

    Bucking spar rivets

Tried an easy way to buck spar rivets. I started with a 10 lb chunk of steel, drilled a hole and roughly chamfered it to kind of fit the set. Backshooting down on a 10 lb bucking bar sure is nice. BTW, a "Y" drill bit fits the set nice. I had made one before for squeeze sets but liked the extra...

    Spar progess

After 2 months of family emergences I finally got back to the patrol. Like the ribs I primed the surfaces that would be sandwiched together then will prime the whole assembly. Came up with an easy way to buck the rivets but will put that in the tips section as it will work on the other Bearhawk...

    Track Saw Ideas

Thanks to John Snapp bragging about how good a track saw worked I figured I would build one. Looking around in the barn for scraps and ideas for material I found some scraps of the material I used for trim around the windows in the shop. It is vinyl, basically a 1x6 with grooves on the back...

    Spar Web width?

Starting to plan spars. The plans give dimensions for spar width but then says fit to ribs. How close is everyone coming to the given dimensions? I know we had a discussion a while back about what the line on the mylar represented. I thought we decided it was the edge of the form block, Bob had...

    More rubber press forming ideas

Don't post much because most everything I need to say has already been said a whole lot better. I will share this though because it works great and is cheaper than others have used. I wanted to try rubber press for the lightning holes in the ribs. John Snapp did a great video of the process, I...

    Wing tip rib

I just noticed something that does not look right. These pictures are off of Bearhawk's website and show the QB wings. The tip rib appears to stop at the rear spar, instead of being full length, if you blow them up. Explanation? Doug

    Gascolator Plans?

Does anyone know if Bob has ever made available the drawing for his gascolator. In the book that came with my Patrol plans he has the drawing for the fuel caps but just a sketch of the gascolator with no dimensions. Looks like to me it would be as easy to make as the fuel caps. Doug

    Flow Fence ???

On page 14 of my plans it shows a flow fence on the upper surface of the wing at the aileron/flap junction. I have looked at all the pixs I can find and it looks like nobody puts it on. Not even Bob's. What is the deal? DRLPatrol

    Report bugs here.

How about making this a sticky (or start one of your own) so we have a place to go and let the powers that be know if we find something that needs attention, like they don't have enough to do already. My first one is about the "Latest Activity" button. How long does it take for a post to come up...

Oh how I hated Yahoo groups. This is going to be great. As for my intro, I am a retired A&P, IA. Been out of aviation for to long. Last plane was a Citabria. I am currently building a new shop and then will start on Patrol #254, scratch built. I live in the Portland OR area. DRLPatrol
