    Thoughts on priming stringers.

The only thing to consider, because I'm dealing with this at the moment, is if you run oratex, the glue will not stick to Aluminum oxide long term. You must prep them in some way with that system.

Back Electrical Fuel Pump O-540 with Carb

It's still gravity feed to the inlet of the fuel pump, and only a 3/8" stand pipe at that. If jostling around off airport will unport your carb that has a float bowl, you will absolutely unport the fuel pump. But the good news is with 4ft of head above it, you won't. I highly recommend 1/2in...

    Heated Pitot Controller mount

I just ran a non-controlled one. Don't turn it on on the ground. No issues.

    Deltahawk on the Bearhawk

They are producing some engines, how many, who knows, but they're on a couple things in the wild. The Seminole and an RV14 is all we've seen. They seem much more focused on certified aircraft and getting that done. I do appreciate that they don't use their customers as test subjects. I think...

Looking for any Bearhawk 5 builders Amphib

But the utility category isn't important in the slightest for what bearhawks do. Who's out there pulling 4.4G in a bearhawk? Who's picking a bearhawk for acro? Most planes that publish a utility category also publish the normal. If the 4, at least the wing can candle 4.4 at 2500lbs, it can by...

Alaska bush wheel alternative, shaved UTV tires and beadlocks?

Unless I see someone demonstrate otherwise, these tires look entirely unacceptable for landings on gravel, sand, rocks, etc. Nice grass strips would be fine. They're going to put more rocks into your prop, the bottom on the wing and the horizontal. There is a reason we go with no tread. It's...

3 extended weekends, 5 National Parks

Then this last couple days, I had a friend invite me out to a cool spot on Iliamna lake. Since I was that far, I made a day trip out of Katmai NP, specifically the Valley of 10,000 smokes, which is the reason for the park, not the bears. On the way back we had lunch in Port Alsworth, in Lake...

3 extended weekends, 5 National Parks

Last couple weeks I've met friends and made new ones going to some events where the national parks weren't necessarily the point of the trip, but they were close by or in it. McCarthy for the 4th of July and then some exploring the Wrangel-St. Elias NP on a quick weekend trip. Nice thing...

First part of AK summer flying

Took a friend and his dog fishing to a spot that has always produced silver salmon in the past. Unfortunately it was dead. We suspect the water level in the creek was too low. Only a couple inches of water, usually it's waist to chest high. Some pics from the evening though. Dog's first...

First part of AK summer flying

Second up was the Moose a week later. Again, payload to fly out with a week's camp plus stuff an entire moose in the back and fly home in one trip , again operating off airport. Got this cow(I was lucky to draw an anterless tag for this year, normally you only get 50" or bigger bulls.) after 3...

First part of AK summer flying

Here's some more summer photos showing what the bearhawk can do. Haul a load! Had two successful hunts in one week. Caribou and Moose. First was the caribou, scouted for herds the week prior, the bearhawk with extended range tanks carries enough fuel for the endurance to go do this. Then it has...

Route structure when this place had scheduled service. Above the Alaska Range on the way home, getting that free speed.

First part of AK summer flying

Next was a trip to Flat(FLT), a Gold Mining Ghost town with a very large BLM maintained runway. There's still active claims in the area. First a stop at Tatina(8KA) and a night at the Rohn cabin on our way. We even have a dog along this time. On the banks of the Kuskokwim river, at the...

First part of AK summer flying

The following trip was out to Bear Glacier, near Seward for some paddle boarding and kayaking. I had a beautiful evening to head down. Clear enough to get above all the terrain, was rocking 135ktas at about 11GPH at 8.5k. Very happy with that. Kenai Mountains, Harding Ice field in the distance...

First part of AK summer flying

Next we put 3 people, everything we could think of and fuel for a 500nm round trip to Tolovana Hot Springs(83AK). Bad weather just south of Windy Pass held us up most of the first day and we didn't land until 10pm. No issue with the midnight sun. A nice soak and all the beer we brought kept us...

First part of AK summer flying

Found a new spot near the entrance to Lake Clark Pass, new strip for me. Nice and long at about 1000ft, at little soft, but nothing the 8.00x6 can't handle. Stopped on the way back for a 5 gallon bucket of hooligan, which takes all of 30 seconds to catch on the banks of the big su. Fresh...

First part of AK summer flying

Here's a couple from a day I took a friend out to the Mud strip and then up to Talkeetna for lunch. Knik Glacier in the background Above the clouds, Foraker and Denali poking out.

First part of AK summer flying

Figure I'd make a post with some of the flying I've done with my 4 place so far this summer around Alaska, mostly south central. Going back to early May. First up is one of my favorite little strips in the vicinity of the Knik Glacier. The Knik valley gets a dumb amount of traffic on a weekend...

    Engine Cooling Revelation

Ran across this today with the Van's louvers. They are also completely opposite of what you have. You should flip those louvers around so they are oriented like all the other stuff out there and take a measurement. Here's some on a bearhawk mounted what appears to be the correct way.
