    Cold Weather Flying

Hey Paul, I had similar problem the first winter I flew the BH in our Canadian winter temp. Oil couldn’t get to 180 (max was 165) and cht between 250-275 My solution was: - add a valve to control the air flow to the oil cooler. It works for fall/spring time temp, but not sufficient below < 0C...

    IO540 Cooling & LOP.

I have installed a similar valve couple years ago, as my oil temp was on the low side. It Works very well in spring and fall time to control the oil temp, but not sufficient for our Canadian winter. I control the valve with a Bowden cable. Also use it in summer at higher altitude, to reduce...

    Tailwheel tire cracks

I bought an Aero Classic tailwheel tire (10x3.50-4) about a year ago and i just discovered that it now has small sidewalls cracks and it shows some cracks along the tread grooves. Tire has only 80 hours, 70% grass/gravel, 30% asphalt. The original tire i had before was a Speciality Tires (STA)...

Fuel Flow Test - Pitch Angle

I initially raised the aircraft off the floor, but it wasn’t enough to get the “extreme” condition. Instead of pushing my luck with an unstable condition, I decided to disconnect the fuel line from the carb, and connect the line to a temporary aluminum tube. I raised the tube up to a 5 gal...

robcaldwell to help you visualize the vertical installation, refer to this PDF drawing from Vans, for the RV7/6/9. I basically used the same approach for the vertical hanging. https://www.vansaircraft.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/OP-54.pdf Preview....

Heavy Wing...need help on how to proceed.

Hi Whee, i’ve tried the washer trick under the top bolts (heavy wing side),and I didn’t get appreciable results. I decided to remove the washer and go with a Gurney flap under the light wing. You don’t need much, in my case, I started with a 6” strip, but that was waaaay too much. I...
