  • Cable retainers for pullies

Are the cable retainers over the pullies in the wing made of steel or aluminum? I am not seeing on the plans where it specifies. If steel, can I use mild steel since it is not structural? If aluminum will work, .025 or .032? Thanks I didn't see it in the builder's manual either. Thanks

Eric shows the use of steel in his build manual. I used 0.032 aluminum. I have often seen aluminum used in certified aircraft. Desert Bearhawk made some cool looking ones out of aluminum.

You can use either steel or aluminum. Aluminum versions are shown in Eric's manual (Part 4 - Wing Assembly) beginning on page 23, he used .032 2024 T3. I think Desert Bearhawk gets the award for style points for his, they are some good looking cable guards.

I used steel in one wing and aluminum in the other

Thanks guys, I will probably use aluminum since I have a bunch of that laying around. I was putting together an order so I thought I would ask to see if I was going to need to put some thin 4130 on it also.
