  • Gear Leg Fairing Tubing Size

My plans show T1(1/4 x .035) for the tubing that runs along the back of the rear gear leg. The engineering notice from 2009 (Gear modification needed for larger tires up to 29") shows this tube as T3 (3/8 x .035).

What is everyone else using here? T1 (1/4) or T3 (3/8)?

My plans show T1, (#1217) but they also show an aluminum fairing spanning the gap between the trailing edge and the aft tube of the gear. Without the aluminum fairing, that T1 tube would be easily bent by a negligent passenger. I believe the engineering notice eliminated the aluminum fairing and increased the size of the tube to T3. It's lighter than the original design anyway, and that's how I built mine.
