So I have seen most people drill the rib stiffeners before priming; however, when I referenced Mr. Erb's CD, it looked like he was drilling after the priming phase. So what order have most of you done it in? Flange, prime, drill or flange, drill, prime. If you drilled second, are you using something like a q_tip to apply some primer to the drilled holes? What about the holes we know we have to drill later such as the ribs for the attached angles, did you reapply primer then?

For what its worth-- my reasoning is not what you probably expect. I don't think it will make any difference which process you use. My personal feeling is that you do not need to be that aggressive in applying primer with a q-tip. The rivet will seal the drilled hole from moisture preventing corrosion. My reasoning would be to paint after all work is finished to reduce scratches in the primer during followup operations and damage that occurs to the painted surface during storage. My choice - form, drill, fit, paint and assemble. fwiw others may differ from me.

I deburred and fluted the ribs straight, then primed them. I then made the (what seemed like) thousands of stiffeners, deburred and primed them. THEN if drilled and riveted them to the ribs. Now I'm fitting completed ribs to the spar.
I found this a big time saver...
