Guys, I'm about to put the spars in the fixture and start framing up the wing. Is there any processes I should accomplish on the spars before I lock them in the fixture? Holes that should be drilled, attach the pocket ribs, anything???? Thanks!

Wayne did a nice write-up on the offset issue. http://www.mykitlog.com/users/displa...g=36225&row=38

Thanks, I had not read his MyKitLog. That is just the way I was measuring it. I agree with the offset but what about the Patrol book suggest using a 1/4" x 3' rod to line up the front and rear attach fittings when welding on the fuselage. That would mean they are co-axial and they are not, the way I see it.

P.S. I have not seen 4 place plans, so I don't know if they are the same as Patrol.Last edited by DRLPatrol; 07-06-2014, 11:33 PM.Scratch building Patrol #254

I am using a piece of square bar stock to set the distance and offset in my wing jig, this can be used later to set the attach fittings also.

The Patrol spar holes are definitely not co-axial. I don't remember the offset since I'm not near my plans, but its on the order of 1/2" or a bit less. I plan to build a jig that fits the wings and use that to tack up the fittings. We'll see. Not quite there yet.
Honestly you probably could drill them straight since the angle is small, but I don't see any good reason too.David Edgemon RV-9A N42DE flying RV-8 N48DE flying Patrol #232 N553DE in progress ! Plans built.

Thanks guys, I kept thinking I was missing something. No matter how I figured it I came up something like 1.8* angle of incidence. Close to the spec of 2* but the bolts were definitely not co-axial. Bottom line I don't know about the rod through the fittings but everything else works.
