  • Tunnel Drumming

I've been doing some engine runs and find that around 1000 RPM, I get quite a bit of vibration from the stainless steel tunnel under my feet. It's very easy to reproduce, so I stuck my hand down there and can stop the noise by pressing on the tunnel ahead of the rudder pedals. Has anyone else encountered this and/or fixed it? I was thinking about adhering a 10" square piece of 1/4" closed-cell foam in the middle of the panel to see if that dampens the vibration, but if someone else has already figured out a solution I'd rather not reinvent the wheel.

Hi Jared, What you are proposing is what I did on my Bearhawk. Worked great.

Thanks Eric, I ended up using a piece that was a little bit larger than 10x10, and I adhered it with 3m77. It stopped the vibration in the tunnel completely. Now I can hear a new one every now and then, but it isn't reliable enough for me to track it down.
