    Just wondering if anyone has mounted a Garmin roll servo in the wing at the bell crank and might have some pictures. I'd rather not mount it under the seat and the travel requirement is beyond the limits unless you weld a tab higher up on the stick, which presents a whole bunch of other issues.

    image.jpeg Larry, I'm not too sure how similar the Patrol system is to the 4 place, but I did mount my Garmin roll servo in the wing, at the bellcrank. I'm sure I have a couple of pics, somewhere. I'll look. It works great. I remember being extra careful when rigging the link to the bellcrank, to avoid "camming over" of the servo bellcrank. It wasn't easy to install the travel limit guard, while the servo was inside the wing, but I got it on. Again, I'll try to find the pics.
    Regarding the travel requirement; The roll servo went well, but I couldn't find a way to rig the linkage to accomodate the necessary pitch travel. My solution was to make a new arm for the pitch servo. A longer arm solved the problem. I'm running really low torque numbers on the servo's and they have plenty of authority.

      I will definitely take another look, but I think I have come up with a mount and will post pictures if all works as hoped. Because of the wing difference between the "A" model four-place and the Patrol, I'm not sure I'd have enough clearance to mount the servo vertically. I am mounting it with a "tray" using adels at the tube and a 90 deg bend that rivets to the rib. I've found that if attached to the bellcrank I can get full aileron deflection with 2.3" of arm travel (100 degs), which is the exact max limit of the GSA 28 servo mechanical stop with the standard arm. I could go with the longer arm, but I was concerned about having enough torque. Doesn't sound like that's an issue, though. Thanks.

        I thought I would share some photos of the mount I came up with for the Garmin GSA28 servo mounted in right wing. With the servo attached to the bellcrank I was able to use the standard length crank arm and the 2.3" of max travel. The only real issue so far is lack of easy access to the AN3 mounting bolts should the servo have to be removed/re-installed. Even though my wing is still open, I tried installing it through the two access openings to see if it could be done. It was very difficult and I finally gave in and just installed it from above. It's possible with enough blood, sweat, tears, scraped knuckles and an assistant that it could be done, but I will probably install another access hole inboard on the back side of the servo.
