  • Elevator Bellcrank Turnbuckle

Hi Folks, wondering what others have done to fill in the gap where the turnbuckle attaches to the elevator bellcrank? Looks like I need a bushing to reduce the turnbuckle to an AN3 bolt and another bushing to keep the turnbuckle centered? Thanks!

My kit came with a 4" long piece of 0.250 o.d. tube. I made bushings for inside the turnbuckle eye from that. The I.D. was a little snug but i ran a drill bit through it to open it up to fit the AN3 bolt nicely. Then i used washers to fill the gap between the bellcrank and the eye. 1 thick and 1 thin on each side gives a nice fit.

I'm not sure if that's the correct way to do it but it looks right. Hopefully i don't find out that i needed that whole length of tube for something else later but no big deal if i do.

Thanks Tim, I have the same bushing material, and I’ll give the washers a go. Seems like I’m using a lot of that material early on - hope I don’t run out! Cheers

Worked great Tim, thanks! As a follow up, I wanted to confirm that I understand the cable routing for the elevator. After the 2nd pulley set, the lower cable goes through the fairlead located inside and just above the base of the “V” in station G. Then the upper cable floats inside the V? I only have loose cables running so far but it looks odd as is, maybe it will clean up with tension... Thanks

I'm at the same point. Yes, the upper elevator bellcrank cable floats while the lower one runs through the fairlead just left of the center line at station G-K. I stretched the cables out to see how they fit and it looks perfectly fine once there is a bit of tension on.
