  • Wing strut length

This week I attached my wings to the fuselage. I carefully measured and rechecked the measurements as per the construction guid lines and additional information provided by Mark. I then drilled the wing attachment points. Following this I proceeded to set up the wing struts. I have discovered that when the wing dihedral is set to 1 degree that the wing strut material provided with my 2018 B4 Bravo kit is an inch to short.

Is it possible for someone to please confirm the length of the strut material as installed and the measurement between the centre of the bolt holes of the wing attachment and fuselage points.

    Thank you in advance.

I suspect that you have A model struts. We had the same problem with B1534

For any future readers who are interested, A-model wing struts should be somewhere around 2.0 m long, B-model wing struts are around about 2.2 m long, in round numbers (this is not exact, do not cut your struts based on this!!). The numbers relate to the length of the extruded aluminium strut section once it has been cut to the correct finished length, not the entire finished strut assembly or bolt-to-bolt length.

A few sets of short struts went out in that era before wings were factory drilled on the B model. We have found about 15 aircraft that this applies to.

        Factory struts are 86.25in

If you would like replacement struts, Email us at info@bearhawkaircraft.com with your name, address and fuselage serial number, replacements are in stock and ready to go.
